Translation in British English
1:1 The elder addresses the chosen lady and her offspring, whom I cherish in sincerity; and not only I, but also all who acknowledge the truth;
1:2 For the sake of the truth, which resides within us and will be with us eternally.
1:3 May grace, mercy, and peace be with you from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in genuine truth and affection.
1:4 It filled me with immense joy to discover some of your children adhering to the truth, following the directive we received from the Father.
1:5 And now, I implore you, lady, not as if I were writing a new edict, but reminding you of the one we’ve known from the start: that we should love one another.
1:6 This is the essence of love: to walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, as you have been taught from the beginning: to live by it.
1:7 Many deceivers have infiltrated the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ’s incarnation. Such a person is a deceiver and an opponent of Christ.
1:8 Take heed to yourselves, that you do not squander what we have achieved, but instead may receive a full recompense.
1:9 Whoever oversteps and does not abide in Christ’s teachings does not have God. Whoever remains in this teaching has both the Father and the Son.
1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not welcome them into your home, nor offer them any greeting;
1:11 for whoever greets them shares in their wicked deeds.
1:12 Though I have much to write to you, I prefer not to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and speak face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
1:13 The children of your chosen sister send their greetings. Amen.
